I am, among other things, a freelance food writer based in New York City. We all have to eat, and we can be thankful that eating is a great pleasure of life. We owe it to ourselves to always eat as well as possible and to maintain a healthy attitude toward nourishment.
Some people view eating indifferently; it is a duty, a tedious intake of nutrients. Others see every meal as an appointment with their internal accountant, who scrupulously calculates the caloric expense of each forkful. And there are those who have never outgrown their childhood prejudices about food, and refuse to venture beyond their four or five standbys.
I welcome those of you who don't fit into any of those categories. I also welcome those of you who may recognize yourself within these species. There is a reason so many people are passionate about food, and here I will share my enthusiasm with the like-minded, and will try to convert the apathetic.
Enjoy my digest. Cheers!
